Crisis behaviors among youths in residential facilities, whether they are the new Short Term Residential Therapeutic Programs or Resource Family Homes, create the most challenges. Behaviors related to runaways or AWOL’s, self-harm or aggressive behavior, sexual offenders, fire-setting, substance use, commercially sexually exploited youth, substance abuse, are the main reason placements fail. Yet each behavior has causes, precipitating factors, and ways to plan and prevent it. This three-hour training is designed to help professionals, supervisors, and managers develop tools to help them identify these variables which face youth and how to help them navigate high risk behavior and improve positive self-regulating behaviors.
